My 14 month old will not eat table food?

My 14 month old will not eat anything but baby pur�e food. Anything with chunks he gags and sometimes throws up. Any advice or suggestions on how I can get him to start eating table chunky food? His pediatrician already yelled at me for not having him on toddler chunky food already. I try to give him pasta, potatoes, rice, everything and anything. He turns his head until I give him purred food.
